Nishu Dubey

Meet Nishu Dubey from @classiquesetcafe on Instagram, a student who is currently pursuing a Masters in Philosophy and someone who loves to dive into the different worlds that is ever so graciously written and made up by all these great authors. She currently is hung up on the classic genre from the past two years and she doesn’t think that it is going away any time soon. That being said, she doesn’t refuse to read any other kind of genre. Maybe self-help is something that she runs away from but other than that, she is pretty much comfortable reading everything else.

What are the top social media platforms available in India and the USA for book promotions?

Instagram, youtube and your own website are some of the top platforms.

At what stage of my book publishing journey should I consider social media promotions? Pre publishing or post and How?

I think social media promotions should be a part of both pre and post-publishing because they will reach a wider audience in this manner. Promotions can be done through various ways but one of the effective ways that has been proven is to approach the people who read and blog their reading. It has probably one of the easiest ways to get your book to be known amongst the reading community.

What are the 5 most effective ways to promote books on social media?

– Post regularly because the more you are known on social media, the more your book will reach a wider audience

– And Not just post regularly but post about your book, how is it relevant and what kind of things people should expect and state the trigger warnings in your book if there are any and whenever you’re posting about the book on social media.

– Approach book bloggers. It will only help your book reach a wider success if you target the audience for your book by approaching them directly. Make groups and offer incentives and these groups will share your work, your posts continuously and constantly making the world aware about your book.

– Admit your mistakes. If someone reads your book and finds something offensive instead of lashing out, understand their point of view and then try to make them understand your point of view and then choose to add or remove that particular thing to your book. It’s ok to be a flawed human being. So please be a little mindful about everything whenever you are publishing your book.

What are the common mistakes made by first-time authors while promoting the book on social media?

Some people think that reading and reviewing is the easiest part of the job and so they don’t want to invest any money or invest as little as possible because they don’t consider book bloggers as real bloggers and they don’t want to pay them and even more so lashes out when they speak out against them.

What kind of post engagement is received on social media while promoting books? What is the percentage of clicks, likes, and comments?

There is no percentage. The percentage does not matter. What matters is that you have authentic followers who connect with your posts and not just some bots.

How much money should I spend on social media promotions for my book and some things to keep in mind?

It really depends on the kind of bloggers/booksellers you’re approaching but I would suggest at least somewhere in between 20,000-40,000.

How to find the perfect hashtags and time to post my book promotions on social media?

The algorithm keeps on changing for every social media. It’s better you research and then post accordingly. Most people think that it’s more effective either in the morning around 11 am or in the evening around 5 pm. And post relevant hashtags only.

What are the things an author should be cautious about before finalizing a social media handle (page) for promoting their book?

Again, it’s important that the author is mindful of everything, especially of the things that they have written in the book. Its important that if they have written about a minority group so they write them in a way that is not offensive and not attacking that group.

Engagement is very important for any social media page to do well.

You shouldn’t run behind likes, comments because you won’t get it within a day or two. Just be patient.

Should an author run paid ads on social media-based interests? Is it effective and what sales can I expect?

It is a little effective. Again, it’s based on the fact that how much you’re willing to pay for. The higher the pay, the higher the sales.

Please give a bit of a background about your social media handle, its Vision & Mission, Top management, the Kind of books you promote, and your biggest strength as a book influencer, popular authors promoted so far, years of experience, any testimonials, etc.

My social media page is mostly books and food and this is what I promote and wish enough books and food for myself and everyone in the world. I am big on education. Doesn’t matter what kind of books you are reading but if you’re reading or consuming something that somehow enhances your knowledge and is good enough for me. That being said, I don’t believe in force reading. If you wanna read, read and if you don’t want to then don’t.

The kinds of books I enjoy the most are classics because they are the ones I can criticize the most and I get to see the difference between the world that was hundred years ago and the world that is today and it is quite an eye-opener.

My biggest strength as a book influencer(I wouldn’t use that word though) is that the community I have built. The friends I got who share the same love for books that I do.
