Deafening Silence
Nature with its beauty, forms, lives and vivid colours fascinates Medhini's mind and imagination. Born in a village, Medhini spent her childhood there and got educated in the educational institutions of villages and small towns. Then she moved to the city. Both rural life and urban life are reflected in her poems and we realise it when we read her lines. She cautions, symbolically, ambition in its highest form is to be abandoned as in her first poem "Kite" because it may bring fall and depression. Her mathematical puzzles entwined with poetic style is marvellous such as "Origin of zero" and "Counting by countless". Some hard realities are prevalent in our society against which medhini writes. She also talks about social and environmental issues. She feels for the sufferings endured by living beings as in "Caught in a trap". She is of the opinion that today's youth is misguided sometimes. She speaks about truth and spirituality." An Incomplete Piece " deals with the story of an enthusiastic painter and she narrates her own love for nature. Everyone can enjoy the poem "Secret formula" which says how to find joy in small things. Medhini's appreciation for women who made their names high is laudable. Her poetry portrays fantasy and dreams as in " Wings of Dreams" and love and romance in "Epistle of fiancée" and "Wedding ring" and humour and philosophy. Medhini doesn't want to be deprived of writing privilege and she pens it in "Do not deprive me". She condemns terrorism and atrocities in her poetic style. She hails festivals and celebrations. Often, she leaves the message symbolically. In the poem," I warn you", the moon urges the earth to caution humankind against their pursuits and endeavours to ruin it. Medhini has left muse and thoughts in this book, for the readers, to think it over. She has penned free verses, sonnets, limericks and haiku poems, here.
