Art of Words

~Shadows Never Lie is a collection of 10 short stories - A Descent into hell, A Good Life, Illusions, Love in the Shadow, The Dark-eyed Man, The Bewitched Hour of Twilight, The Girl in Blue, A Missive from the Past, The Survivor, Justice Served Cold. Each story is set in different plots, with different characters but with a similar theme, DARK. ~These stories are about the demons inside all of us and the shadows that possess us. While reading these stories, I was left shook by the endings and smooth plot twists. Deepti Menon is a master teller of thriller mind tales. ~Reading every bit of it felt so surreal as if I was present there, watching everything with my bare eyes. The stories were all descriptive and beautifully written. And I also felt relatable to some characters in a few stories. The titles were all totally justified to the respective stories and plots. The narration of the plots was on point and most importantly believable. Each story just kept getting better. ~Some opening sentences like- wind screamed outside the window and splattered out in little teardrops /the dim lights winked as he stood at the door and looked for me/ a slight figure in patched clothes that had seen better days, were totally eye-catching and had me hooked in the beginning itself. I mean, look at those simple words combining to form such deep meaningful sentences. That's the talent I admire this writer for. ~Reading these stories will make you feel to analyze your own life and see how there is no particular difference here as well. It felt as if the stories were from my own surroundings. ~If you are into some dark stuff, you should definitely have this on your list. I wasn't but I read it and yet, loved it!
